[Knocking on doors was for squares and prudes, naturally. Regardless of Marie's mood, Vinnie was psyched to see you and your soon to be tattooed self. But he did have to ask:]

So what brought on this idea?

[Marie shifts around, still a little self-conscious about the idea. Unconsciously, he touches his shoulder where Char had bitten into him.]

I just, like, wanted to cover some of these scars up with something.

[Vinnie blinked - but Marie did mention it was to cover something. It made complete sense. The surprise on his face didn't last long and was quickly replaced by an encouraging smile.]

...I love it. You got a design in mind?

[That was sort of reassuring. Although Marie should have expected that Vinnie would be in favor of it, whatever reason he came up with...]

Yeah. I dunno. Sorta.

[Except yes completely. But that was embarrassing too.]

[Well, if Marie didn't want to come out and tell him what exactly he wanted, that was cool too. Considering that the Wartortle had kept something as important as evolving to himself, Vinnie was just relieved that he was informed at all.]

If y'have a sketch or reference pictures, you should bring'em. They'd probably be able to get started on it sooner.

[Pause. Marie turned around, sifted through some of the papers on his desk, and turned back towards Vinnie, holding out a slightly crumpled up piece of paper. On it, a crudely scribbled tattoo design.]

I guess, like, something like that? Or something ... or whatever. I want it to cover the shoulder.

[Vinnie took a look but... well, upon seeing it, he wasn't really sure what to say. The idea was great, this streaming waterfall that cascaded over the shoulder, and it was even in an art style similar to his own. But that wasn't the most surprising part about it.]

There's... flowers?

[But Marie didn't like flowers.]

[Cue more embarrassment. Marie avoided eye contact, nervously held a hand to his face, and mumbled.]

They're... Venusaur flowers.

[Unable to help himself, despite any semblance of self-control he wanted to have, Vinnie's face broke out into a helpless, sad smile. Even if he wanted to hold it back, he couldn't - every feeling was welling up inside of him, and there weren't words to describe how overwhelmingly touched he felt.

So he he went over and hugged Marie instead, as tightly as he was able. Sorry for this violation of your personal bubble, but Vinnie just had to let it out.]

Admittedly, Marie would have preferred a little warning before he was hugged. He just sort of stood there, still, for a second, his face pressed into his brother's chest. As soon as he got over the fleeting uncomfortable feeling, Marie returned the hug. Vinnie hugs were sort of the best.

He searched for something simple to say, but only managed to mumble a fairly out-of-place;]
