[You have reached the voice mailbox of ...Vinnie. Please leave a message after the tone. ... BEEP! Or drop him a text. He's been really into that lately. Specify date and time and which boy you just saw Sasha talking to so he knows who to punch.] |

[And lo, there he was, at the suggested time.]

Maybe from that very sheepish looking blonde that was wandering up.]

Wait
Those ears. Those eyes. The expression on his face. That sweater. The overwhelming signature in his scent. Even the way he walked. He knew them.
Vinnie found himself taking a step forward without even realizing. Then another. And another. His mouth hung open and his eyes grew wide as the facts began to piece themselves together. It wasn't the Ivysaur he knew. But it was Bulba.
Then, like a switch was flipped on inside him, Vinnie's entire body seemed to break out in a glowing smile, and he ran towards Bulba to tackle him in an enormous, congratulatory hug.]
HOLY SHIT!
no subject
More likely it was that Bulba looked up to the older Venusaur a lot, affections aside. If it didn't meet his approval then... But that was a completely stupid worry, he realized once Vinnie saw him. So dumb. How on Earth did he think Vinnie possibly wouldn't approve?
Bulba had started to move a bit quicker to help close the distance between them, but stopped short at the sight of his smile. When was the last time he had seen him smile anything remotely like that? Had it even been when he was a Venusaur? Had it been so long ago? It was wonderful.
Not that he had a long time to think about it because whoa hugs. Bulba's eyes widened and he stumbled back a step, barking out a surprised laugh. The reaction was almost overwhelming. But there he went, wrapping his arms up around his back.]
Geez, hey..!
no subject
He'd always known Bulba had it in him. And right now, in this moment, irregardless of anything else, Vinnie was just so happy for him.
But hugs couldn't last for ever. He pulled away, hands still placed firmly on the other's shoulders, to get a better look at this new body. The wild saur's eyes were bright as they wandered across Bulba's face, studying the changes that maturity had brought.
Finally, Vinnie beamed toothily as he said:] I knew you could do it. You're amazing.
no subject
This was nice. It was really, really nice.
Bulba tried not to take much notice of the way Vinnie was checking out everything that was new, but it was kind of a lost cause. Between his studying and the fierce and happy hug that had just transpired, Bulba's face had turned a very happy shade of pink.]
Ah... You did? [He blinked and rubbed the back of his neck, a very happy sort of embarassed.] I mean I'm not really... [He flicked his eyes back up to Vinnie and gave a quick shake of his head. None of that. Instead he leaned back up just a little (a new blessing for being tall) to playfully bump his nose against Vinnie's.]
... Thank you.

How's it feel? Where'd it happen? What was it like for you? How's Green?
no subject
Hi Marie. He still turned a bit pinker though, happily flustered over the rapid fire question session and he laughed.]One at a time, one at a time...! It feels good though, I think. I mean it's going to take some getting used to, but yeah. It's good. [He nodded.]
Uh, Viridian Forest. I took Green there. It was really... nice. Green's kind of over the moon, heh.

[For a moment there was a flicker, a ghost of something pained behind the gladness in Vinnie's eyes. It was there and gone - and he quickly turned his gaze up to admire Bulba's shiny new ears and hair.]
Shit, I can't get over how much taller y'are now. You don't even have a bit've green left in your roots! Man, I wish my hair went the colour've my petals.
no subject
Heheh. Being tall is real weird. I'm so used to looking up at folks instead.
[He gave Vinnie a considering look, trying to imagine him with a pink army do. What a trip that was. And here Bulba let himself get a bit bolder, reaching up to lightly ruffle Vinnie's haircut now that he could reach it with ease.]
Green looks real good on you, though! I already kind of miss it... I started out all green, but now I just have these. [A point towards his still green eyebrows.]
no subject
I'm jealous anyway. Gold's a great colour - you look like the sun.
no subject
Then I'll try to be a good sun for you. I mean, you wouldn't be able to see it very good if it was on your own head, right?
no subject
[There was a teasing look in his grin. It was a cute notion, impossible as it was. Vinnie patted Bulba on the shoulder and casually suggested:] So, drinks?
no subject
Drinks. My treat.
[Let's go walkin.']
no subject
Vinnie ordered a passionfruit lemon green tea with pearls, and took the far table for two by the window.]
no subject
He set Vinnie's drink in front of him as he took his seat. In went his straw into his own peach apple with pearls, and Bulba realized that whatever jitters he felt a minute ago had somewhat vanished as soon as he sat down.
It was Vinnie. It was going to be fine.
He waited a moment for Vinnie to take a drink before he asked:]
How is yours?
no subject
Just what I needed. Thanks.
no subject
Your welcome.
[Taking a sip of his own (which was nice and sweet), Bulba mulled over what he wanted to say. He'd already played it out in his head over and over, but it was a little different each time. Just like now, there were even more differences. There was a lot to consider, but he already knew that when it came to Vinnie it was going to be best if he stopped considering and was just very frank.
He turned his straw in a few slow circles, maintaining his cheer as he gave Vinnie a curious look.]
Can I ask you what you think we're up to right now? Together, I mean.
no subject
Vinnie had, at this point, assumed that the important thing Bulba wanted to tell him on the night of prom had been these evolution plans. So it the possibility that there might have been some other great reveal on the plate for today didn't even cross his mind.]
Uh... well, if we're celebrating, then I really should've bought your drink for you.
I dunno. Hangin' out?
no subject
[For the moment, Bulba turned his gaze out the window, watching people do their thing as they walked by.]
What if I said I thought it felt like a date?
no subject
Vinnie stared back, blinking slowly and obviously not getting the point. So it was a friend date, then.]
Okay...? I guess it could feel that way?
no subject
I guess it depends on who's thinking about it, huh?
[Bulba looked back at him, gently setting his cup down on the table. He was already past the point where he couldn't really avoid it anymore.]
... Actually, do you remember that I had something to tell you? Would you mind if I went ahead and say it?
no subject
Go for it?
no subject
I like you a lot, Vinnie. More than just friends, I mean.
